Welcome
Shavers
of Abingdon Bed & Breakfast
is a late 19th century Victorian home located in Abingdon, VA.
It is within walking distance of the historic campsite of the
Kings Mountain Men, who defeated the British at Kings Mountain,
SC, and led to the surrender of Lord Cornwallis at Yorktown, VA.
There are re-enactments of this camp gathering annually in the
fall. Early owners of the home include Abingdon industrialist
W. N. Fortune, who operated the Old Stone Mill, formerly Claps
Textile Factory. The home was also owned by Olin R. Prather, a
wealthy oil baron who frequently entertained Texas oil men, including
former President George H. Bush.
At Shavers
of Abingdon, we offer comfortable rooms, delicious homemade breakfasts,
courteous and friendly service, and a quiet retreat from the hustle
and bustle of daily life. Enjoy the historical ambience of the
Shavers of Abingdon Bed & Breakfast, with easy access to the
Barter Theatre, the Virginia Creeper Trail, the Bristol Motor
Speedway, and the Birthplace of Country Music Museum, as well
as many other area attractions.
